Dear Prof. Narlikar
I read in today's sakal (dated May 13, 2007) that you have taken interest in
developing a test for testing astrology based on statistics.
I am very much excited and willing to participate in this testing for I am a
strong supporter of astrology.
However, I am willing to make my contribution to your project subject to the
following conditions:
o I will communicate with your team only in writing (fax/email) and I expect
the same from you. If I find it necessary I will publish this communication
on a suitable platform.
o I belong to a modern school of astrologers who have different set of
beliefs/axioms than majority of astrological community in India and
therefore it is important that I get all the necessary information (which I
normally use in my practice) needed to make contribution solicited by your
team in this testing.
Here I briefly clarify the same -
Astrological rules are like linguistic rules - they evolve with time.
Therefore to make any kind of prediction it is important to find out what
planetary patterns are existing in given time period. Based on these
patterns found in fresh data one can go on making predictions about the test
data (supplied by you in this case).
External factors are influential in making choices- The immediate external
factors are stress levels of parents and other relevant factors. Therefore
it is extremely important to have a look at parent's horoscopes before and
at the time of child births.
I therefore request you to supply me the fresh data spanning over (period of
10-20 years) which I will use for finding patterns and then for making
predictions.
I need sample of adequate size, say 2000 or more birth charts of bright and
retarded children each along with their parents birth data.
I will need assistance from your team for all the data entry work and all
other related stages (except the one of making predictions) required for
this project for the software tools I will be using.
I also need clear DEFINITIONS of attributes/traits you are going to test.
I am sure you will find my requirements just and will be happy to satisfy
them. Looking forward eagerly to hear from you soon.
Thanking You,
Sincerely
(Rajeev Upadhye)
